Less than an hour’s flight from Bali, Ayana Komodo the perfect base from which to explore West Flores and the magnificent Komodo National Park. Located on the unspoilt sands of Waecicu Beach, on the rugged Indonesian island of Flores, the Ayana Komodo brings comfort and luxury to this relatively undeveloped corner of the Indonesian Archipelago. Centred around a two-tiered swimming pool with unspoilt views of the nearby Kukusan Island and the surrounding ocean, the resort itself is sleek and modern, designed with expansive floor-to-ceiling glass windows to frame the incredible views.

Endless expanses of blue ocean stretch out from the golden sands of Waecicu Beach, inviting keen snorkellers to discover the beautiful sub-aquatic marine environment. Being a marine-protected area, this part of Indonesia is home to a myriad of larger pelagic species, from sharks and dolphins to manta rays and sun fish, all making their home in the turquoise waters. A small reef lies just off the end of the hotel’s jetty, and many snorkelling and diving hot spots can be reached by short boat trips from the hotel. Daily boat trips from the jetty head deep into the Komodo National Park, to the pink sands of Padar and the famous dragons of Rinca Island. Glass bottom boat trips give a unique view of the reef, whilst sunset cruises to Kalong Island offer the unique opportunity to watch thousands of bats heading out across the sunset skies.
Flores and Komodo National park experiences consistent warm temperatures year-round with a distinctive wet and dry season. The dry season is from April to October and the wet season generally lasts from November through March. The dry season brings plenty of sunshine, blue skies and fantastic diving conditions, whilst monsoon rains are a common occurrence in the wet season, particularly between the months of December and February. For those visiting Komodo National Park, the best months are from April to June, as well as from September to November.
