South West Coast
Considered by many to be the most beautiful region of the island, Mauritius' south west coast is home to dramatic scenery. Rugged mountains, shimmering lagoons and sugar cane fields pepper the land, providing a stunning backdrop to the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean and the crashing waves which reach the south western shores.
The impressive Le Morne rises up from its namesake peninsula, a stunning crag covered in lush, tropical vegetation. The peninsula itself is not only synonymous with breath-taking beaches and the rocky outcrop, but is a haven for kite-surfing and a variety of other water sports.
One of the largest, shimmering lagoons can also be found here, home to an array of marine life which can easily be explored.
