Uruguay is a friendly, tranquil country bordering its much larger neighbours of Argentina and Brazil, making it an easy and safe family destination. The landscape is mostly rolling plains and low hills - lush pasture with great estancias/ranches for great activities. We recommend visiting Uruguay as a side trip from Buenos Aires, by air or hydrofoil across the Río de la Plata. The Uruguay part of this holiday is also a great self drive option for those looking for a more independent experience! This itinerary is based on a family of four with two kids below 12years, and includes great quality family hotels as well as three nights in ranches on a full board basis.
Days 1 - 4 : Buenos Aires, Argentina
On arrival into Buenos Aires, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. During your time in Buenos Aires we have included a number of tours to tantalise your taste buds and allow you to explore Argentine culture at its best. Enjoy a dynamic Tango Show, which oozes 1930's glamour and is performed by some of Argentina's best selection of singers and dancers.
Day 4 - 5 : Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay
Transfer to the ferry terminal. Take the ferry to “Colonia Del Sacramento” and transfer to your hotel in the Old town of the City. Enjoy a walking city tour along the cobbled streets of the old town of “Colonia Del Sacramento”. Overnight at Posada Plaza Mayor for one night.
Day 5 - 6 : Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay
Day 6 - 7 : Near Montevideo, Uruguay
Today enjoy a fantastic day on estancia Finca Piedra. All meals and excursions included. Enjoy horseback riding, mountain bikes, visiting the attached farm and farm animals, estancia swimming pool or a relaxing picnic. Overnight for one night at Finca Piedra.
Day 7 - 8 : Near Montevideo, Uruguay

After breakfast check out and travel by private transfer to Montevideo. Upon arrival check in to your hotel my Suites for one night. Enjoy a City tour including lunch at the lively Port Market.
Day 9 - 10 : Montevideo, Uruguay

Transfer to Finca El Charabon, a working estancia-ranch surrounded by ravines, rolling meadows and grassland. During your time here all meals and activities are included and you can do as much or as little as you want. Participate in cattle activities which range from rodeo, branding and milking, go horseback riding in and out the establishment, embark on photo safaris, enjoy a number of hiking trails or simply relax in this rural setting.
Days 12 - 15 : Punta del Este, Uruguay
Enjoy a guided visit of Valizas and Cabo Polonio Villages. Continue to the incredible mobile sand dunes until you reach Buena Vista Hill, offering fantastic views of the ocean. Enjoy lunch at a seaside seafood restaurant and sample some local delicacies. In the afternoon, visit the biggest sea lion reserve; it will not fail to impress! Overnight at Awa Boutique and Design hotel for three nights.
Spend the next days at your leisure to enjoy the beaches of Punta del Este. Punta del Este is home to lovely beaches with white sand and clear waters. You will also be able to experience the fine dining restaurants and active nightlife in Punta del Este.
Days 15 - 18 : Punta del Este, Uruguay
Day 18 : Montevideo to London
Transfer back to Montevideo for your flight back home.
