The Memory of War - Half Day Tour
Spend half a day visiting key sites dedicated to the memory of the America-Vietnam War, including the Hanoi Military Museum, the notorious Hoa Lo Prison and the B52 Victory Museum. You will also meet with a veteran to hear his personal battle stories.
At the Hanoi Military Museum a local guide will show you around the extensive displays of antique weaponry and photographs, whilst you learn about Vietnam's past conflicts. You will also visit the B-52 Victory Museum, which focuses on the air battles of the America-Vietnam War.
Stop at the infamous Hoa Lo Prison, referred to by the American POWs who were imprisoned here as the 'Hanoi Hilton'. Originally built by the French, the prison was used to detain political prisoners and counter-revolutionaries prior to the America-Vietnam War. Even after the war, anti-Communist prisoners were held here until the land was sold to developers who tore most of the buildings down in the 1990s.
During the tour, you will pass Huu Tiep Lake. Here you can see the wreckage of a B-52 bomber which was shot down by Vietnamese soldiers in 1972. Your day will culminate with a tour of the War Remnants Museum. At this private museum you will have a chance to hear the stories of a veteran who served during the war.
Please note that is it not possible to do this tour on Mondays or Fridays as the Military History and B-52 Victory museums are closed.
