On market day (Tuesdays & Fridays) the village of Solola, on the shores of Lake Atitlan, is bursting with life and local Maya people from all around the area flock to buy and sell their wares dressed in traditional costume and brightly coloured textiles.
You will drive from Lake Atitlan roughly 45 minutes to the traditional town of Solola. On Tuesdays and Fridays, this town comes to life with brightly coloured textile stalls, bustling fruit and veg stalls and wooden antiques. All the locals are in traditional mayan dress and will often visit the market to buy their weekly necessities. This authentic market gives guests a true insight into the local mayan way of life and will prove a memorable morning, strolling the street stalls before returning to the lake.
