Ben Tre - Mango Cruise
Head deep into the heart of the Mekong Delta for a full day tour, travelling by boat on the 'Mango Cruise', by motorized cart and by bicycle. Learn about rural life by the river, including local industries, fishing and farming.
Leave the energetic buzz of Ho Chi Minh city for the serene surroundings of the Mekong Delta, known locally as the ‘rice bowl of Vietnam’. Travel on the back of a xe loi, part two-benched cart and part motorcycle, through rice paddies and coconut trees to the Mango Cruise, a private sampan awaiting your arrival in a picturesque canal.
Enjoy a fresh drink on board before visiting a small brick workshop, where you can learn about the century hold technique of making bricks from hand. After a short trip across the An Hoa River, begin a four kilometre cycle ride which takes you to the Phong Nam village to learn about the processing of coconuts, before continuing on to a rice noodle factory. A short walk will take you to Mrs Huong’s home, where you can enjoy some local fruits and tea in her garden, before taking a small sampan to discover a maze of hidden small waterways.
Return to the Mango Cruise boat to travel to the Mango Home Stay restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious five course Vietnamese lunch in the gardens. Following lunch, take a leisurely walk through the gardens to the house of Mr Sau Tuong, where you can learn how to make rice paper. You will then board the boat to return to Ben Tre City for your transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City.
