A Day in Charming & Historic Hanoi - Full Day Tour Including Water Puppet Show
Spend a day exploring the cultural highlights of Hanoi with a private guide. Visit the city's most important sites, including the Ho Chi Minh Complex, Temple of Literature and Old Quarter, before ending the day with a water puppet theatre performance.
Hanoi is a charming capital city, offering scenic lakes, tree-lined boulevards and a rich history. Stop off at the popular West Lake, where you can admire the Tran Quoc Buddhist Pagoda. This is regarded as the oldest temple in Hanoi, dating back to the 6th century.
The Ho Chi Minh Complex is a short drive from the West Lake. This is the site of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, an imposing concrete building which houses the embalmed body of the famed communist leader. The site also encompasses Ho Chi Minh's stilted house and the famous One Pillar Pagoda. During the tour, you will also visit the wonderful Temple of Literature, built in 1076. Learn about the temple's history as you wander through the serene compound.
Enjoy a visit to the Ethnology Museum, where you can learn about Vietnam's ethnic minority groups, including displays featuring traditional costumes and artefacts. You will also spend some time winding your way through Hanoi's charismatic Old Quarter, the bustling Hang Be Market, and along the side of the pretty Hoan Kiem Lake.Your tour will finish at the theatre, where you can sit back and watch a traditional water puppet show. This art form is unique to northern Vietnam.
Please note that the order of your tour will change depending on the location of your hotel, traffic levels and public holidays. Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum is not open in the afternoons, or on Mondays or Fridays. Therefore if you visit in the afternoon, you will only see the mausoleum from the exterior. The Ethnology Museum is also not open on Mondays. Should you wish, it is possible to visit the Vietnam Women's Museum instead of the Ethnology Museum. Here you will learn about the history and traditions of Vietnam's women. If you would prefer this option, do let you guide know.
