With only 30 rooms, The Puripunn Baby Grand Boutique Hotel is a cosy boutique hotel that feels homely and welcoming. With architecture inspired by the ancient Lanna kingdom blended with colonial style, this is an excellent choice for those looking for home comforts as well as a slice of Chiang Mai elegance and style.
Puripunn translates as ‘land of the sharing’ and the owners and staff strive to make their guests feel totally welcome and at home; we found the staff to be warm and attentive, offering each guest a very personal service.
The hotel is just a few minutes’ walk away from some of the city’s most popular sights, such as Warorot Market and the fashionable restaurants that are perched along the Ping River. You are also not far from the exciting Mai Night Bazaar. The Puripunn also has a free tuk tuk service to take you to locations in and around Chiang Mai.
All the rooms have spacious living areas; think polished teak wooden floors, antique furniture and high ceilings. All rooms boast spacious bathrooms with adjoining rain shower rooms and toilets, a terrace or balcony with a bench, a love seat or easy chair to relax in.
Guests can enjoy classic Thai dishes, regional Lanna dishes, Western dishes, and a classic breakfast at Puripunn. There's also the opportunity to enjoy a high tea, with offerings of Thai puddings with mango and coconut, spiced rice cakes, pork canapés, and many more delicacies.
The SALA Spa is decorated in a colonial style, offering a treatment menu to rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit, with remedies made from tropical and botanical herbs and fruit, such as the signature Thai hot herbal compress. Guests can also make use of the fitness room, swimming pool and jacuzzi, and the specially designated children’s pool.
We think this is a fantastic option for those who just want to be centrally located, just a 15 minute stroll from the centre of Chiang Mai.
When to go
Characterised by a warm tropical climate, Thailand can be visited all year round, however there are some distinct seasons that could affect when you choose to travel. In the north of the country, the most popular time to visit is during the cool season from December to February, with pleasant daytime temperatures, chilly evenings and minimal rainfall. The rainy season arrives at the end of May, bringing heavy rains until November. Rainfall tends to appear in short, sudden downpours, with August and September seeing the most consistent rain.
