Magnificently set on a privately-owned peninsula that juts out from the southern Brazilian coast near Florianopolis, Ponta dos Ganchos is the perfect place to come and enjoy a spell of luxury at the beginning or end of a trip to Brazil. The resort comprises 25 gorgeous and private pool bungalows and villas designed by an award-winning Brazilian architect, all with stunning views of the emerald-green waters below. Room categories range from the simple but attractive luxo bungalows to the vast and unbelievable Emerald Special Bungalow – a temple to fine living that comes with its own wine cellar, an underground gym and private infinity pool. The use of tropical hardwoods and glass creates a light, spacious feel and bathrooms have oversized showers.
The main restaurant changes daily and serves delicious local seafood dishes. There are no set meal times and so you can eat when you want where you want, food is prepared exclusively for you. Freshly caught seafood can be barbecued for you on the beach, or if you are on a honeymoon, or simply fancy a slice of romance you can reserve a table on the hotel’s private island to enjoy an intimate evening drink and candlelit dinner. Other facilities are equally impressive, from the indoor heated swimming pool and fitness centre, to the spa offering a wide range of nourishing and relaxing treatments. There is also a floodlit tennis court and private cinema to be enjoyed.
Ponta dos Ganchos is the ultimate place to indulge, relax on the deserted beach, snorkel in the emerald waters and soak up the fabulous views of Ganchos bay. If you like to be active, you can take a kayak or laser dinghy to explore the many beautiful coves in the area. Scuba diving, mountain biking and horseback riding trips can all be additionally arranged. In the winter months, between July and October, you can also take a trip to Imbituba to see southern right whales. Please note that Ponta dos Ganchos is an adult-only resort and does not accept guests younger than 18 years old.
When to go
High season is generally December to April when it's warm and humid. The coastal location ensures that temperatures rarely exceed 30°C and generally do not fall below 13°C (nighttimes in July). Even in winter (June-September), when rates are lower, daytime temperatures usually reach 21°C. Rainfall is a possibility throughout the year, but January and February often experience slightly heavier showers.
