A secluded resort on the island of Koh Lanta, Pimalai offers a place where its guests can get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life in what is thought of as one of Koh Lanta’s most splendid hotels. With a strong philosophy of the natural environment, its vision is to provide a utopia of true unspoiled natural beauty for its guests on the golden sands of the cove in which it is located. Tucked away from the crowds, guests can walk straight onto the private stretch of sugar-white pristine beach, and the genuinely friendly team of staff strive to provide you with endless privacy, personal space and peacefulness.
Despite being nestled within a vast 100 acres of exotic forest, Pimalai is a small hotel, immersed and almost lost in the natural landscape, offering total tranquillity. The 75 rooms, villas and suites are beautifully designed with bamboo shutters and shiny wooden floors intended to represent the outside natural world. With modern Thai décor, the accommodations each have spellbinding ocean views and the positioning of many mean that guests can walk right onto the sand from their bedrooms. Some of the villas have private pools and all are finished with the utmost attention to detail, with a smattering of luxurious touches.
Rak Talay is Pimalai’s signature Thai restaurant, serving up authentic classic dishes. Enjoy western fine dining in the Seven Seas restaurant, and more sumptuous Thai food in Spice and Rice. Revitalise with a treatment in the spa, which has been a winner of a world luxury spa award and is included in the Conde Nast Johansens Luxury Spa Collection. There are two sublime infinity pools with mesmerising views of the beach and the gentle, warm sea is also perfect for swimming. Pimalai also offers a great range of activities, including Thai cooking classes, yoga, romantic beach dinners and waterfall treks. Pimalai Resort & Spa is perfect for families and couples looking for a friendly yet wonderfully stylish resort holiday on the quiet and sublimely picturesque shores of Koh Lanta.
When to go
Characterised by a warm tropical climate, Thailand can be visited all year round, however there are some distinct seasons that could affect when you choose to travel. The most favourable time to visit Thailand’s west coast is between November and March, where sunny days and hot temperatures are coupled with a refreshing breeze. At the end of May, the monsoon rains begin to arrive, reaching their heaviest between the middle of September and the middle of October. Khao Sok National Park is best visited during this monsoon season, as temperatures are more pleasant and flora and fauna are abundant.
