A sanctuary for Africa's ‘Big Five’ and a multitude of other animal species including rare antelope such as roan, sable and mountain reedbuck, this malaria-free wilderness is also home to the world's largest breeding colony of the endangered Cape Vulture.

When to go
On average, the warmest month in the Waterberg region is January with average temperatures reaching as high as 28°C, with a dry heat throughout the summer months (November to March). The dry periods are from May to September with the coolest and driest month falling in July. November is the wettest month and should be avoided if you dislike too much rain. Generally, visitors can expect sunshine, long afternoons and dry days for the majority of a stay.
