Surrounded by British Columbia’s Selkirk Mountains, Grizzly Bear Ranch is a day-long scenic drive from either Calgary or Vancouver. The lodge is run by a husband and wife team, Julius and Kristin and has six unique, custom-built cabins all located on the riverside with their own en suite bathrooms and sundecks. The simple but comfortable cabins are perfect for two but can sleep up to four to accommodate families together.
The ranch caters for both families and couples with an array of adventures on offer ranging from spectacular hiking and rafting on the river that runs directly past the ranch to exploring the landscape searching for wild animal sightings. Grizzly Bears are best viewed in the Autumn but can also be seen in the Spring. Summer sightings are rare. Other wild animals you may be lucky enough to see however include bobcats, lynx, wolves, cougars, moose, eagles and more. The trails are all private as there are no other operators in the area, so you can enjoy a real off the beaten track experience.
When it comes to food at the property, their philosophy is simple. Only local, seasonal and wherever possible organic produce. All your meals and drinks including alcoholic beverages are included.
What is unique about Grizzly Bear Ranch versus other bear viewing lodges, is that you can experience a truly authentic bear-viewing experience. The ranch does not use any viewing stands or managed enticements to attract the bears. During your stay you will track the bears on foot with your trained expert guide and get to experience them truly wild in their natural habitat.
Grizzly Bear Ranch is also known for its involvement in ending the trophy hunting of grizzly bears in British Columbia. Their remarkable vision and the experience they offer has been featured on Ben Fogle’s News Lives in the Wild and in the Sunday Times. Guided activities aside, Grizzly Bear Ranch also offers untamed forests to explore at your leisure and a real unique, one-of-a-kind wildlife-viewing holiday.
