Fridays was the first luxury resort to open on Boracay. Its forty palm-thatched cottages and suites set amongst the tropical gardens and shading coconut palms of Boracay’s justifiably famous White Beach still continue to attract those looking for a great beach getaway with plenty of things to do. Fridays’ spacious air-conditioned rooms are mostly located around the swimming pool or courtyard, and feature high ceilings and wooden floors, finished with neutral colours in a warm tropical style, and capacious tiled bathrooms with large walk-in showers. Premier rooms additionally have a partial sea view, while the resort’s six circular Premier Suites overlook the resort and the sea, and come with floor-to-ceiling windows, a large private verandah perfect for relaxing and very large bathrooms with elegant bathtubs and Rainforest showers.
You can dine superbly at Fridays’ restaurant, famous across the island for its innovative and succulent Asian, European and fusion Filipino cuisine. The favourite dishes include wasabi-crusted beef tenderloin and fresh grilled Palawan lobster. A huge range of pampering treatments can be enjoyed either in-room or at the spa, while the small but perfectly formed swimming pool is another great place to relax.
The in-house PADI certified dive shop caters to all levels of diver, and there are a plethora of fantastic dive sites in the crystal-clear waters off Boracay. There are also plenty of water sports available such as kayaking, water skiing and parasailing.
When to go
Boracay has a tropical climate and is situated outside the typhoon belt. This means that it enjoys less rainfall than the rest of the Philippines. Generally, the dry season runs from November to May, with scattered showers between June and October. January is usually the coolest month, with temperatures averaging about 25°C, and May the hottest, with an average temperature of about 28°C.
