Set in a turn-of-the-century wine estate 15 km from Mendoza, Finca Adalgisa is a family-run property that simply exudes rustic charm and a home-from-home warmth. Secluded and private, Finca Adalgisa is within easy reach of Mendoza and just a short walk from the pretty village of Chacras de Coria, a thriving community with local shops and restaurants. Lodging is in two stone houses that contain 11 simple but charming en-suite rooms and suites, decorated with local tapestries and handicrafts. Each room is different with its own unique design and well equipped, but it’s worth spending a little more to secure a suite in the Casa de Piedra which is furnished to a higher standard and has views over the vineyard.
Surrounding the house are beautiful gardens filled with mature fruit trees and a lovely outdoor swimming pool. Every evening guests gather at the estate’s charming bodega to taste the delicious estate Malbec produced exclusively for Finca Adalgisa guests along with delicious light tapas. The property doesn't offer a restaurant service, but plenty can be found within walking distance in the nearby town and you may only fancy a light bite after winery visits which usually involve filling multi-course lunches!
Finca Adalgisa is a wonderfully relaxed place, ideal for some gentle wine exploration. Winery tours to neighbouring vineyards can be arranged, along with cookery classes and visits to the market in Chacras de Coria. For more active types, hiking, horse riding and white water rafting (in season from September to May) are all possible, as well as fly-fishing or a round of golf. Best of all, though, is simply to absorb the spellbinding peace of Finca Adalgisa and curl up on a sofa with a book or go for a slow cycle through the countryside soaking up the view of the Andes beyond.
When to go
Year round destination but October to April is the best time to visit. The wine harvest or vendimia takes place typically early March and is a great time to visit, although bookings should be secured well in advance.
