You will be provided with a duffle bag which will be taken by our porters to the tents every night – you should fill it with clean clothes and all toiletries you’ll need for the night time. With a good central location in Aguas Calientes right at the foot of Machu Picchu and close to where the buses depart for the Inca ruins, El MaPi is a stylish contemporary hotel set among pleasant landscaped gardens. The hotel has 48 en-suite rooms, comprising 40 Superior Rooms and eight Superior Deluxe Rooms, each equipped with a king or two twin beds with cotton sheets, down duvets and hypoallergenic pillows and offering beautiful panoramic views of the green landscape that surrounds the village. Rooms are simply yet comfortably decorated, in a smart modern style with subtle earthy tones, and come with flat screen TV and modern amenities, and the Superior Deluxe Rooms have a small seating area and a complimentary mini-bar.
El MaPi has a cafeteria serving excellent Peruvian and International cuisine, a contemporary bar-lounge with plasma TV and complimentary Wi-Fi, serving snacks and tapas-style dishes, a wide selection of piscos and organic wines. An appealing feature is the hotel’s hot tub where guests can relax with an after dinner drink.
El MaPi is ideally located for excursions to the spectacular Inca site of Machu Picchu. Guests can take a guided tour of the ruins and then explore at leisure and perhaps hike up Huayna Picchu peak for spectacular birds-eye views over the ruins and the surrounding mountains. The area is also good for hiking and bird watching.
When to go
April to November is the best time to visit Machu Picchu. The rainy season is typically from December to March, with the heaviest rains arriving in January and February.
