San Gil and Santander
For those who love adventure sports, the region of San Gil and Santander is a paradise location. Nestled amongst the Andean mountain tops in the north east of Colombia, it is hailed as the adventure capital of the country and offers an array of adrenaline fuelled activities to enjoy.

Besides adventure activities, the region is also rich is beautiful heritage villages such as the Spanish colonial gem of Barichara. Declared a National Monument, this sleepy town is one of Colombia’s most picturesque villages. Rich in cobblestone streets, gorgeous architecture and white-washed houses draped with bougainvillea, it is an atmospheric and charming place to wander and relax after the adrenaline rush of San Gil.
With a wealth of things to see and do, this area of Colombia has opened up its doors to visitors with an array of hotels and restaurants popping up around the area. Whilst accommodation is clean and comfortable, for those looking to indulge in luxury and top-end infrastructure, then San Gil and the area of Santander may not be for you, but for those with a love for adventure, getting off the beaten path then this hidden gem of Colombia is not to be missed!
