Buzios
Just over a 100 miles north of Rio and a brief two hour road trip brings you to the idyllic peninsula of Búzios, also known as Armação dos Búzios. It’s Brazil’s coolest resort and a perfect beach extension due to its gorgeous sandy coastline, crystal-clear waters and mix of plush pousadas, bars and restaurants.
Discovered in the 60s by the French star Brigitte Bardot, Buzios back then was a sleepy fishing village that served as a tranquil hideout for her to get away. With its abundance of sandy beaches, charmed cobbled streets and breath-taking views, people soon followed suit making it the hot-spot destination it is today. With so many beaches to choose from Buzios offers something for everyone, from snorkelling and swimming in the calm waters at Ferradura Beach to catching waves at the best surf beach of Geribá. No matter which you choose, you will be rewarded with crystal clear waters, golden sands and a dry micro-climate making it a year round destination. Cruising around on an open-top buggy is the best way to explore its rugged coastline and discover the perfect beach spot for you.
