Guatemala and Belize
Combine fascinating culture, abundant wildlife and world class beaches on a tailor-made itinerary that takes you through steaming jungles, rumbling volcanoes and lost temples as well as a coastline teeming with marine life. Whilst the geographic proximity of Guatemala and Belize makes them easily navigable, their unique differences set them completely apart.
Begin your itinerary in Antigua, Guatemala, a pastel coloured city lorded over by volcanic peaks, where charming cobbled streets are the setting for bustling markets, boutique hotels and excellent restaurants all bursting with colour and the buzz of local life. Elsewhere, Lake Atitlan is home to countless indigenous villages and crystal-clear waters which provide the setting for all manner of adventure. Closer to Guatemala's border with Belize, the wonder of the ancient Maya civilisation awaits at Tikal.
From here, the cayes of Belize, their pristine sands, kaleidoscopic reefs and turquoise blue seas are the perfect place to unwind at the end of an action packed itinerary. Relatively undiscovered, these low lying islands are a tropical paradise, perfect for scuba divers and beach aficionados alike. Inland, the diversity of the flora and fauna of Belize is surpassed only by the culture, a fusion of creole, Maya and Garifuna influences. Spend awhile exploring the labyrinthine cave systems, lush rainforests and remote reefs of Belize for the ultimate way to round off your trip.
As the Caribbean coast is susceptible to hurricanes between June and November, the dry season, between January and April, is the best time to embrace your inner explorer and visit Guatemala and Belize.
