March

Bask in the beauty of Japan at its very best, as spring sets in and Cherry Blossom blooms. Sakura zensen (cherry blossom front) lasts through March to April, and it is worth catching it at the start of the season to enjoy the full effect.

Seeing Japan in Cherry Blossom season is simply magical, and the tapestry of pink that fills the parks and lines the streets makes this the absolute best time to visit. Locals take to the streets to view this natural phenomenon, often celebrating with the consumption of food and the singing of songs to commemorate this season of new beginnings.

March is also the start of the peak season in Borneo; the winter rains should now be over, leaving the vegetation lush and green and the wildlife thriving. Head to the rainforest regions and experience the incredible Bornean wildlife, in particular the orang-utans for which it is renowned. March is traditionally the driest month in the state of Sabah, and things are beginning to dry up in Sarawak too, meaning the beaches near Kuching can also be enjoyed and make for a lovely, relaxing end to your trip.
