Give yourself the best present of all and head to Southeast Asia, a brilliant alternative to Christmas at home. Spend Christmas at the beach, explore fascinating temples and enjoy a unique fusion of flavours as you escape the worst of the winter weather.
Luckily for us, as we enter the depths of winter, Southeast Asia is just coming into its summer, and weather conditions throughout make this the ideal time to travel and escape the winter blues. With so much to see and do across the continent there is truly something to appeal to every taste.
In need of a little beach time? We recommend the west coast of Malaysia, home to some of the county’s finest beaches and the bustling metropolis of Kuala Lumpur. Here you can enjoy a blend of Chinese, Malay and Indian cuisine, and the shopping is amazing- perfect for picking up any last minute Christmas gifts.
The west coast of Thailand is also great at this time of year. Head to the sands of Phuket, Koh Lanta or Khao Lak for a selection of the country’s popular beach resorts, where you will have ample time for relaxation. Alternatively, the north of Thailand can also be enjoyed throughout December. Visit the fascinating and remote hill tribe regions and gain an insight into the unique cultures and lifestyles of these friendly folk.
Burma, Cambodia and Laos are also in the midst of their dry seasons, and are best visited during our winter months. Enjoy a combination of stunning natural surroundings and ornate temples, or explore the less visited coasts of Cambodia and Burma for a more off-the-beaten track beach break.
