For those travelling in August then a trip to Borneo is highly recommended. The weather is great all year round, and although the jungle climate means you should be prepared for rain, the daily showers keep the rainforest lush and the wildlife thriving.
Borneo is one of the few destinations in South East Asia that is best visited during our summer months. The rainforest regions remain hot and humid for most of the year, so there is no really bad time to visit, but most of the rain falls between November and February. During August the weather here is at its absolute best, and as it coincides with the summer holidays we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
Those in search of wildlife should head to Sarawak; August is the driest month in Sarawak making it the most comfortable time to explore the jungle regions, national parks and caves. If trekking appeals then this is a great time to head to the Danum Valley or to trek through the jungles along the Kinabatangan River.
Borneo also has its fair share of beaches, which make for the ideal end to any itinerary. The weather is best for visiting the beaches of Kota Kinabalu, Gaya Island and Lankayan Island.
