Da Lat is located in the Southwest Highlands region of Vietnam. An elevated position provides much cooler weather than the likes of Nha Trang or the Mekong Delta. This, combined with lush countryside and misty valleys, has earned the Da Lat the name of 'City of Eternal Spring'. This is a great place to enjoy nature, with plenty of outdoor activities on offer including trekking and rafting.
The city is a combination of old and new, and the area's French Colonial history is still a strong component of the architecture; so much so that some refer to Da La at 'Le Petit Paris' and there is even an Eiffel Tower replica in the centre of the city, although it is considerably smaller than the real thing!
However the main draw of Da Lat is the surrounding nature. The area is renowned for its beautiful flowers, trees and local vegetables. There is a colourful Flower Festival which takes place in December every other year, and yet another moniker for Da Lat is the 'City of Flowers'. Outside the city there are picturesque lakes, waterfalls and forests waiting to be explored. There are a number of exciting treks, and for those seeking an extra adrenaline-boost, there is white water rafting and even canyoning.
