Most famous as the second atomic bomb site, Nagasaki is known for its history. As the only trading port during Japan’s self-imposed period of isolation that stretched more than 200 years, there is a wealth to explore making it a fascinating stop along your journey in Japan.
In total contrast to the rest of Japan there is a distinct international feel to the city, dotted with Western style architecture clearly depicting the Dutch heritage in the region. There are plenty of highlights and we would definitely recommend visiting Oura Catherdral, Glover Gardens and taking in the incredible views from the top of Mount Inasa. Of course, no visit to Nagasaki would be complete without visiting the harrowing and emotional Atomic Bomb Museum which is exceptionally well done.
