Addis Ababa
Despite being a large and bustling city, Addis Ababa has a lot to offer for visitors passing through. Addis Ababa, meaning “new flower” in Amharic, is the third highest capital city in the world.
The air is cool and the Jacaranda lined avenues and surrounding Entoto mountains make it a rather attractive city. There are also a number of attractions in the area including churches, markets, museums and shops.
The National Museum is a particular highlight as it houses the 3.2 million year old hominid skeleton of Lucy.
There are a range places to stay available in Addis Ababa and something to suit all travellers. It boasts a number of good restaurants and coffee shops too, and this is an excellent place to enjoy an authentic Ethiopian coffee ceremony.
