Coming from a family of tour operators and wildlife enthusiasts in London, Africa made its mark on me at an early age. Having been on holiday to Malawi as a child, soon after finishing my studies, I went back and dug my heels in. Working as a guide, tracker and conservationist in the bush allowed me to see parts of the subcontinent and catch the bug.
The bulk of my three and a half years in the bush was spent in Malawi, working as a guide at Mvuu Lodge in Liwonde National Park and Chelinda Lodge located in the rolling hills of the Nyika plateau. It was here that I truly developed my passion and knowledge for ecology, conservation and the minutia of the wildlife that surrounded me everyday. As well as taking advantage of my location by travelling the country and subcontinent as extensively as possible, I was also fortunate enough to spend extended periods training in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
More recently, after developing more of an interest in the other side of the travel industry and its environmental implications, I made the decision to move back home to London. It was here that I started putting holidays together based on the expertise I had gained out in Africa, and was eventually given the opportunity to come and work for Imagine. Being surrounded by like-minded travel enthusiasts - as well as having the chance to go out to South Africa and Kenya to gain a better understanding of the journeys that our clients experience - has only served to fan the flames of my Africa obsession.
