Hot new properties
In the world of travel, things are constantly changing and evolving; new properties pop up in stunning locations and exciting experiences are curated to help travellers really immerse themselves in a destination. We've collected together some of the most exciting recent additions to our portfolio to inspire your next holiday.
Nayara Tented Camp - Costa Rica
Nayara Tented Camp is the newest addition to Nayara Resorts, a collection of beautiful properties overlooking Costa Rica’s Arenal Volcano which have long been popular with Imagine guests. We are hotly anticipating the opening of this innovative tented camp, which is due to host its first guests before the end of the year. Guests will sleep under canvas in an authentic rainforest setting, while enjoying all the comforts of a luxury hotel. Set high on a hill with spectacular views of the volcano, the spacious tents feature four-poster beds, outdoor showers, oversized bathtubs and Nayara’s signature plunge pools fed by natural hot springs. This is the perfect choice for those looking for a really immersive rainforest experience. You will have ample opportunity to get up close and personal with the abundant bird and wildlife of the area, as well as visiting the sloth sanctuary. What’s more, Nayara is entirely committed to sustainability and providing a luxury experience which runs firmly on environmentally friendly practices.
Mantis Mthembu Lodge - South Africa
An area of dramatic scenery, eclectic culture and splendid wildlife, KwaZulu-Natal is one of South Africa’s most diverse but least visited regions. However, the introduction of a new direct flight between London and Durban last year – along with a sprinkling of new luxury properties – is really starting to put KwaZulu-Natal on the map. One of the properties we are most excited about is Mantis Mthembu Lodge in the private uMfolozi Big Five Reserve. The lodge is set among the thickets of a low embankment on the White iMfolozi River and is comprised of just seven private villas and two family villas. All villas face the river, and whether you’re in your bed or in the bath, you’ll be able to soak up the stunning views of the river and forest beyond. Head out on exciting game drives in search of the Big Five, before returning to the lodge where you can enjoy a dip in the swimming pool before sitting down for dinner in one of many atmospheric dining settings.
Postcard Hotels - India
Postcard Hotels is a brand-new collection of intimate luxury hotels that aims to redefine India’s hotel scene. The first three opened in Goa in December last year, with more set to open all over India in the near future. Goa has previously been lacking in beautiful boutique properties and these three new hotels have certainly brought something new and refreshing to the region. All are tucked away in quiet surroundings, separate from the bustling cities and beach bars (though those are also within reach). From north to south, Postcard Moira is in a former ancestral home on the Birdsong Estate, surrounded by orchards and forests; Postcard Velha is a beautifully restored colonial property on the Champakali Estate, surrounded by 300 acres of virgin coconut plantations; and Postcard Cuelim overlooks 3,500 acres of emerald green paddy fields and even houses a 350-year-old chapel on its grounds. For those looking for a tranquil interlude as part of a busy Indian itinerary, these three new Postcard Hotels (and the others that will follow), are sure to be a popular choice.
Verney’s Camp - Zimbabwe
Having long been overlooked in favour of neighbouring countries, Zimbabwe is now in the throes of a tourism renaissance and is becoming an increasingly popular destination with safari veterans looking to break fresh ground. A number of new camps have sprung up in the last couple of years and one of our favourites is Verney’s Camp, located on a private concession in a largely unvisited part of Hwange National Park. Tucked away under the shade of picturesque teak trees are 10 beautifully designed tents, with authentic safari decor and private decks. Guests can head out on game drives and guided walks to experience the spectacular wildlife of Hwange National Park accompanied by some of the best guides in Africa. Returning to the lodge, the show continues as you watch animals come and go at the waterhole while relaxing around the fire with a drink. Team a stay at Verney’s Camp with a night or two at the even newer Deka Camp or Deteema Springs (all are run by Machaba Safaris), to enjoy an even wilder side of Hwange.
Asilia Adventures - Kenya and Tanzania
Asilia is a group of luxury safari camps throughout Kenya and Tanzania that are firm favourites with Imagine guests. They have recently introduced a collection of adventure packages, which range from two to seven days in length and offer intrepid travellers a truly unique and immersive experience in areas completely off the main safari circuit. By travelling between November and May (which is outside of the peak season), Asilia has greater availability of specialist guides and more capacity and flexibility to offer these carefully curated activities.
Our Africa Specialist Jo recently embarked on their three-day walking safari in the northern Serengeti and she remarked, “Walking across the northern Serengeti allows you to enjoy this immense landscape in a really special way; from the dust sticking to your skin to the sweeping views, you go back to basics and experience what safari is all about – getting close to nature!”.
Other Asilia Adventures include specialist birding safaris, horseback safaris, tribal interactions and log cabin retreats.
Karpaha Sands - Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka’s east coast has been largely untouched by tourism until recently, but its paradise sands are starting to lure more people in and there has been an emergence of new properties in the area. One that should definitely be on your radar is Karpaha Sands. Comprised of 17 tented suites which are scattered between the gardens and on the beachfront, Karpaha Sands offers a luxury glamping experience in an idyllic setting. Not only is this the only property on Kalkudah Beach, but it is also a safe swimming area, meaning guests can frolic in the waters to their hearts’ content before relaxing on the sand in peace. One of the real draws of Karpaha Sands is the food, which has an emphasis on home-grown produce, fresh seafood and local Tamil flavours. The hotel works closely with the local fishermen, both serving their fish in the restaurant and helping them to rebuild their fishing huts on the beach. For an authentic and relaxed beach retreat with the local community at its heart, you can’t go far wrong with Karpaha Sands.
