As the name suggests, this is the ultimate Zimbabwean adventure, visiting some of the most spectacular and impressive areas of the country. You will begin in the Matobo Hills - regarded as the spiritual home of Zimbabwe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with huge historical and cultural significance. From here you will have a traditional safari in Hwange with a wide variety of wildlife on offer, with the rare opportunity to learn more about painted dog conservation. A couple of days at Victoria Falls will allow you to take in the wonder of the largest waterfall in the world, with plenty of activities on offer too. From here you will fly to Lake Kariba, one of the most beautiful areas in Zimbabwe with the impressive backdrop of the Matusadona mountains with a diverse wilderness experience on offer. Your final stop is Mana Pools which offers an exceptional safari in an area of great beauty and wilderness with wonderful wildlife sightings on offer.
Days 1 - 4 : Matobo Hills, Zimbabwe
Stay at Amalinda Lodge for 3 nights
On arrival into Bulawayo you will be met and transferred to the Matobo Hills - regarded as the spiritual heartland of Zimbabwe. Here you will stay in a private concession at Camp Amalinda for three nights with all meals and two activities a day included. Camp Amalinda has a spectacular setting amongst the boulders that the Matobo Hills are known for. As well as exploring the Matobo Hills themselves, you can track rhinos in a vehicle or on foot, enjoy nature walks through the reserve and visit Cecil Rhodes' grave. The Matobo Hills are marked out by their incredible scenery and impressive rock formations, a UNESCO World Heritage Site there is plenty of cultural significance here, offering a unique insight into Zimbabwe's history.
Days 4 - 7 : Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe
Stay at Khulu Lodge for 3 nights
This morning you will be flown into Hwange National Park for a traditional safari. Hwange has some of the best wildlife viewing in Africa, but is much less visited. Expect an exclusive experience, with the chance to feel a sense of wilderness. You will stay at Khulu Ivory Lodge for three nights with all meals, house drinks and twice daily activities included. Set in a private concession, Khulu Ivory Lodge overlooks a waterhole which attracts a huge variety of wildlife and offers fantastic birding. Whilst staying here you will be able to go on half and full day game drives, night drives and walking safaris. A particular highlight of staying here is the chance to visit a Painted Dog Conservation Centre - one of the most elusive and endangered species on the continent. If you fancy an afternoon relaxing then we recommend spending an afternoon in camp watching passing game - head to pool and you may well be sharing with elephants who regularly come for a drink!
Days 7 - 9 : Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Stay at Victoria Falls Hotel for 2 nights
After a final game viewing activity this morning you will be driven to Victoria Falls - a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the seventh natural wonder of the world. Straddling the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, the Falls never fail to impress. You will spend two nights here staying at the Victoria Falls Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. Of course a visit to the Falls is a must, but there is plenty more to do besides this. For thrill-seekers there is the chance to bungee jump, take a flight of the angels in a helicopter over the Falls or go white water rafting. If you prefer a relaxed pace we recommend going on a sunset cruise on the river, or take afternoon tea at the hotel - it's one of our top recommendations of things to do at Victoria Falls.
Days 9 - 12 : Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe
Stay at Changa Safari Camp for 3 nights
Today you will be flown by light aircraft to Lake Kariba and Matusadona National Park which lies on its southern shore. Here you will stay at Changa Safari Camp for three nights with all meals, house drinks and activities. Changa has a fabulous position on the shore of Lake Kariba with spectacular sunsets a given and wonderful views of the Matusadona mountains in the distance. There is plenty of big game here with elephants frequently sighted at the lake as well as lion, leopard and cheetah. The park is also known to have a black rhino population, although it is endangered with sightings not as common. The beauty of a stay at Changa is that it can be as active or as relaxed as you like. If you feel like just chilling out in camp and enjoying the view that's fine, or how about a boat cruise on the lake - offering amazing photos of the dead trees as they silhouette with the sunset. For those after a more traditional safari experience there are game drives and walks on offer as well as fishing.
Days 12 - 15 : Mana Pools National Park, Zimbabwe
Stay at Kanga Camp for 3 nights
After a final activity this morning you will be flown by light aircraft to Mana Pools in the Lower Zambezi valley, one of Zimbabwe's most spectacular national parks with incredible game viewing on offer. You will stay at Kanga Camp for three nights with all meals, house drinks and game viewing activities included. A small and intimate camp with never more than 12 guests, Kanga Camp is set inland in an area of great diversity. The Kanga Pan is the only water source available throughout the year and attacts a wide variety of wildlife, making for some truly exceptional sightings. In a particularly wild setting, you can be assured of a private, wilderness experience with traditional game drives on offer as well as the chance to explore the park on foot with an expert guide, allowing you to learn about the intricacies of life in the bush. As part of a game drive it is also possible to go to the floodplains where canoeing and fishing are on offer, making for an even more diverse safari experience.
Day 15 : Mana Pools - Victoria Falls
After a final game drive this morning you will be flown to Harare in time for your international flight home. Your arrival into Harare marks the end of your extensive adventure around Zimbabwe.
