Jordan has a varied climate, with stark contrasts throughout the year. The most popular time to travel to Jordan is from October to November, and March to April, as this is when daytime temperatures are warm and pleasant, and the weather is usually dry. In winter, Jordan can get very cold and wet, and it is not unusual for there to be at least a bit of snow. In summer, the country can get very hot, with temperatures sometimes rising to around 40 degrees Celscius from June to August.   

Itinerary

Day 1-3

Amman

Your journey will start in Jordan's capital city, Amman, where ancient history meets modern Arabia. You will stay at the Al Qasr Metropole for 2 nights.

On your first morning you will take a private walking tour of Amman to learn about the city's history and culture, stopping off to visit the dramatic Citadel where you will see the Byzantine Church, the Temple of Hercules and the Ummayad Palace believed to have been built between the 7th and 8th century. From here you will then visit the Roman Amphitheatre and if time allows have an opportunity to wander through the old souq where you can absorb the sights, sounds and smells of this ancient market.  In the afternoon you will be driven north to see the Roman ruins of Jerash which are some of the best preserved Roman ruins in the modern world.  You will have the opportunity to stroll at your own pace to view Hadrian’s Arch, the Forum and the Corinthian columns of the Temple of Artemis.  Your driver will return you to your hotel and you can either choose to have a relaxing evening at the Hotel or perhaps return to downtown Amman and enjoy dinner at one of spend the evening wonderful restaurants to experience Jordanian food.

Day 3-5

Petra

You will leave Amman early morning and head south along the King's Highway, stopping off along the way to visit fascinating historical sites, including the Greek Orthodox Church of St George in Madaba, where you can glimpse the 6th century mosaic map of the Holy Land.  From here your journey continue to Mount Nebo where Moses is believed to have first viewed the Holy Land and if time allows a visit to either Shobak or Kerak Castle. The journey time is approximately five hours.

Your base for 2 nights is Hyatt Zaman a charming hotel situated on a hillside in the village of Taybeh, close to the famous rose-red city of Petra. Whilst it is fairly simple, the Hyatt Zaman provides a comfortable base and plenty of character.
If you are in Petra on a Monday, Wednesday or Thursday, we recommend experiencing 'Petra by Night'. Enter though the Siq to see the Treasury lit by thousands of candles, and enjoy local music and Arabic tea in front of the iconic Treasury. This is truly an amazing Experience and a wonderful way to see the first glimpse of the Treasury.

The following day, you will get to experience the whole of the glorious Petra site. Start the day with a two-hour tour with a local guide, who will introduce you to the history of the legendary rose-red city. Wind your way through the Siq and along the main thoroughfare where you can stop off to see temples and tombs. Your tour will usually finish at the Qasr al Bint temple, and from here you can climb up the 800 steps to reach the Monastery, a beautiful temple carved into the rock face. You will have the rest of the day to explore the site at your leisure.

Day 5-6

Wadi Rum

From Petra, it is around a 90-minute drive out to Wadi Rum, which was famously the base of T.E. Lawrence, known as Lawrence of Arabia, and his fellow soldiers during the Arab Revolt. Take a jeep ride through the extraordinary desert landscape with a local Bedouin, stopping off to visit sites of interest including hidden springs and canyons featuring ancient Nabatean inscriptions. Take in the stunning sunset before spending the night at a local camp, where you can enjoy incredible star-gazing.

Day 6-8

Dead Sea - Jordan Side

From Wadi Rum you will head back northwards to the Dead Sea, which is around a three to four-hour drive from Wadi Rum. Before reaching your hotel, stop off to visit Bethany Beyond the Jordan. This important site is believed to be the place where Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist. 

The Dead Sea, at 424 metres below sea level, is the lowest inland point on Earth. It has been hailed as a health resort since the times of Herod the Great and its minerals are fantastic for the skin.
  
On Arrival at you’re the Holiday Inn Resort Dead Sea you will have the opportunity to relax, and perhaps float on the extremely salty Dead Sea.  During your time at the Dead Sea, you  may also wish to indulge in a local spa treatment which uses the mineral-rich mud from the shores.  

On your final day you will leave the Dead Sea and head east to Queen Alia International Airport to catch your flight home.
