Enjoy the true essence of Peru in just two weeks. Begin in the country capital of Lima scaling the heights of Lima's food scene on a gastronomic tour- a fantastic way to see the city and mix with locals. Then head to old Inca capital of Cusco, before travelling to the adventure wonderland of the Sacred Valley, white-water raft along the Urubamba River and explore the valley's Incan treasures. Visit the extraordinary lost city of Machu Picchu and end in the heart of the lush Amazon Jungle in search of wildlife. Days 1 - 3 : Lima, Peru
Stay at Casa Andina Premium Lima for 2 nights
Upon arrival, you will be greeted at the airport for your private transfer to your hotel, located in the trendy Miraflores neighbourhood of Lima. During your time in the city, experience a gastronomic tour and explore Peru's culinary delights. Mix with the locals at a Peruvian market and discover a colourful array of fresh produce. Learn how to prepare a delicious Peruvian Ceviche as well as other Peruvian dishes and get a flavour for the country.
Days 3 - 6 : Amazon, Peru
Stay at Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion for 3 nights
In the morning you'll be transferred for your flight to Puerto Maldonado in the Peruvian Amazon. Upon arrival, transfer by boat and overland to your lodge nestled deep within the Amazon. All meals and excursions are included during your stay and time is spent exploring the jungle. From hiking through verdant jungle trails, to canoeing along the murky Amazonian creeks and walking through the jungle canopy on a hanging bridge, there is plenty of ways to get under the skin of this pristine wilderness. See giant otters frolicking in the water, playful packs of monkeys swinging in the tree-tops and an array of brightly coloured birds fluttering through the canopy.
Days 6 - 9 : Urubamba, Sacred Valley, Peru
Stay at Hotel Sol y Luna for 3 nights
Explore the beauty of the Sacred Valley on a full day tour. Visit the authentic and traditional Indian market in Pisac and continue through the Urubamba Valley to Ollantaytambo, a living Inca town and fortress. The next day, enjoy white-water rafting along the rushing rapids of the Urubamba River and admire the spectacular views of the mountains and archaeological remains that you will pass. On your day at leisure, choose from a number of adventure activities such as horse-riding, mountain-biking or hiking to explore the region's most stunning scenery.
Day 9 - 10 : Aguas Calientes, Peru
Stay at El MaPi for 1 night
In the morning, take the train to the town of Aguas Calientes, pass through a diverse range of pristine landscapes and on arrival experience a comprehensive tour of the Machu Picchu citadel, exploring this iconic historical site with a guide. The following morning you may choose to return to Machu Picchu, hike Huayna Picchu or relax in the village of Aguas Calientes and its hot springs. In the afternoon, you will board the train to return to Cusco.
Days 10 - 13 : Cusco, Peru
Stay at El Mercado for 3 nights
Enjoy your final three nights in Cusco, the former capital of the Inca empire which is rich in history and Andean culture. A chocolate experience has been included where you will have the opportunity to make your own chocolate using traditional cocoa from the Peruvian Amazon. Spend the rest of your time at leisure, exploring markets and ruins that are dotted around the city, or if you're feeling adventurous we can organise mountain biking, hiking or horse-riding in the surroundings.
Day 13 - 14 : Return flight home
Transfer to the airport for your flight home via Lima.
