This comprehensive 14 night trip will take you to central India’s most stunning and diverse national parks in search of rare mammals, birds, reptiles and, of course, the majestic Bengal tiger. It is the ultimate itinerary for those who enjoy game drives, wildlife and are captured by the allure of India’s Bengal tiger.
The first stop is Bandhavgarh to enjoy early morning and late afternoon game drives in ‘gypsy’ jeeps, before driving to Kanha, one of India’s largest national parks with a healthy population of tiger and sloth bear. Next is the Pench Tiger Reserve for a three night stay at the luxury tented camp of Jamtara before driving to the final destination of Satpura National Park, one of India’s best kept secrets. Every national park and each property included in this itinerary offers something unique, and moving from one to the other enables you to fully experience the sheer diversity of wildlife and landscapes that lie at India’s heart.
Day 1 - 2 : Delhi
Upon arrival in Delhi, you will be met by one of our representatives and transferred to the Pullman, a large modern hotel conveniently located close to Delhi’s international airport. Time here is free to spend how you wish, whether it be relaxing by the hotel's swimming pool, enjoying the extensive range of dining options or an afternoon tour of Delhi can also be arranged if you wish.
Day 2 - 3 : Delhi
Days 3 - 6 : Bandhavgarh National Park, India
Stay at Treehouse Hideaway for 3 nights
The following morning, you will be transferred back to the airport in time to catch a flight to Jabalpur. From Jabalpur, it’s a four hour drive to the Treehouse Hideaway, your accommodation for the next three nights whilst you explore Bandhavgarh National Park. Located at the edge of Bandhavgarh, the property’s five spacious treehouses attractively combine traditional jungle living and contemporary design, providing a wonderful base for exploring Bandhavgarh. Over the next two days you will enjoy daily morning and afternoon game drives accompanied by expert naturalists from Treehouse Hideaway, spotting wildlife amongst Bandhavgarh’s tropical woodlands, valley grasslands and ruined temples.
Days 6 - 9 : Kanha National Park, India
Stay at Shergarh for 3 nights
From Treehouse Hideaway it’s approximately a six hour drive to Shergarh, an exclusive and comfortable tented camp on the edge of Kanha National Park. Spend the days enjoying morning and afternoon game drives through Kanha’s winding tracks and majestic forests, before retreating to the homely comfort of your private tent. Surrounded by forests, with a private water reserve at its centre, Shergarh flourishes with birds and butterflies, and the park beyond its home to a vast array of wildlife, including tigers, leopards and hyenas. Other activities available from Shergarh include nature walks, cycle rides and trips to the local village and markets.
Days 9 - 12 : Pench Tiger Reserve, India
Stay at Jamtara Wilderness Camp for 3 nights
On the morning of day eight, you will be driven approximately three hours to Pench Tiger Reserve, to the luxury tented camp of Jamtara. There is no better base for exploring Pench Tiger Reserve, with Jamtara’s 12 light and spacious tents offering the perfect retreat between morning and afternoon game drives. For those seeking a more immersive experience, Jamtara offers the chance to enjoy a comfortable night’s sleep outside under the stars. Beyond exploring the wildlife of Pench Tiger Reserve, guests can explore the local village of Jamtara, gaining a fascinating insight into rural village life.
Days 12 - 15 : Satpura National Park, India
Stay at Reni Pani Jungle Lodge for 3 nights
From Pench it is about a five hour drive to Reni Pani Jungle Lodge in Satpura National Park, one of India’s best kept secrets. Satpura might not be the best national park for spotting tigers, but it is virtually free of tourists and boasts a stunning landscape of narrow ravines, densely forested hills, rugged sandstone peaks and the vast waters of the Tawa Resevoir. Spend the following two days exploring the surrounding jungle by jeep, on elephant back, by boat, canoe and even on foot. Time back at the lodge can be spent relaxing by your private hilltop cottage overlooking the forest canopy, taking a refreshing dip in the outdoor pool and sampling delicious local delicacies at evening barbecues.
Day 15 - 16 : Delhi
The following morning sees your central India adventure draw to a close as you are driven approximately four hours to Bhopal airport in time to catch a short flight back to Delhi. Finishing the trip where you started, your final evening is free to spend how you wish, before you are transferred back to the airport the next day in time to catch your flight back home.
