Visit Golden Rock (Kyaiktiyo)
Travel to Golden Rock (Kyaiktiyo Pagoda), a small golden pagoda perched atop a gravity defying granite boulder covered in gold leaf, one of Burma's most important religious sites.
After arriving at Kyaiktiyo base-camp you will travel by open-air truck approximately 45 minutes along a winding road, followed by a 1 hour walk through tea houses and small stalls up to Golden Rock. Said to house a strand of Buddha's hair, Golden Rock is known to be Burma's third most important Buddhist pilgrimage site, after the Shwedagon pagoda and Mahamuni Pagoda. Consisting of a colossal boulder perched on a cliff, topped with a small pagoda and covered in gold leaf, it is a truly striking sight.
