Tokyo Evening Gourmet Food Tour
Street food is an essential part of the Tokyo way of life and this evening you will enjoy two small areas of the city famous for a particular speciality. A local guide will accompany you and help you tell your Yakitori from your Monjayaki.
This evening, you will be met by a local guide and use the Tokyo public transport network to head to an area called Yurakucho. Close to Tokyo Station, this expanse of winding streets built in an around the railway tunnels is close to the financial district and attracts the local office workers who come to relax, often in full suit and tie in amongst the many small street food outlets and bars. This part of Tokyo is famous for its Yakitori, which are grilled chicken skewers and there is even a particular small street called ‘Yakatori Alley’. Here your guide will help you find two Yakitori and a local drink whilst you soak up the unique atmosphere.
Your second course is a short underground train away in Tsukishima, close to the famous Tsukiji Fish Market. Here the delicacy is a mix of flour, vegetables and batter called Monkayaki, topped off with different flavours and cooked right at your table on a hot plate. After trying this dish alongside a drink in a small restaurant, the tour will come to an end, where you can choose to stay and explore further on your own, or your guide can take you to an atmospheric Izakaya bar (tiny Japanese Pub) or back to your hotel.
