Tintoreras & Wall of Tears
Explore the wonders of the Tintoreras before heading to the fascinating Wall of Tears.
The Tintoneras islands are named after the white tipped reef sharks of the same name that swim in these calm waters. This activity is referred to as a 'Galapagos in miniature' as you will see almost all of the island's iconic wildlife at this one spot: white tipped sharks, sea lions, turtles, rays, penguins, and of course pelicans and blue footed boobies. You will have a chance to snorkel in the bay... just don’t be surprised if some of penguins or sea lions jump in to play alongside you!
After lunch, hike the Wetlands Trail, along which you’ll see colonies of marine Iguana and all four types of mangrove. At the end of the trail is the Wall of Tears, built in the late 1940s by prisoners held at the islands’ US base during the Second World War. Your guide will explain the significance of the Wall of Tears, offering a glimpse into the lives of the island’s previous inhabitants. Enjoy beautiful views of the village below and keep an eye out for birds and wild giant tortoises.
