The Trail to Dahachowk
One of the most beautiful combinations of culture and scenery, this guided trek takes you from the streets of the city up to some of the finest views in the Kathmandu Valley and lesser visited cultural sites in the region.
A short drive from Kathmandu leads you to a small trekking trailhead, where your guide will accompany you on one of the most beautiful yet least-known trails in the Kathmandu valley.
The moderately easy path makes its way through community forest land on the edge of traditional Nepalese villages, which are a good place to spot birdlife and mammal species such as spotted dear. As you slowly rise through the greenery, the scenery will unravel slowly before your eyes until you arrive at a vantage point with a panoramic view of the Langtang Himalayas.
On clear sunny days, the view extends over the city of Kathmandu across the valley toward distant settlements and you will see how the urban areas interact with farmland and irrigated rice paddies. When you reach the village of Dahachowk, the day becomes about cultural learning, as you are able to explore the Manakamana Temple and its ceremonial pond. The grave of Kaji Kalu Pandey, a hero Gorkha of the Unification of Nepal, can also be found and with it, some colourful history.
After exploring the village and scenery, you will be driven back to Kathmandu and your hotel.
