Break the drive up between Paro and Thimpu with a stop at Tachogang Lhakhang, a privately run temple reached by an iron bridge, known as one of the finest examples of the skill of 15th century iron bridge builder Drupthob Thangtong Gyalpo.
Just off the Paro-Thimphu highway, the Tachogang Lhakhang was built in 1420 by the renowned iron bridge builder, Drupthob Thangtong Gyalpo and lies alongside one of his iron bridges, just one of many dotted throughout Bhutan. Now privately run by his descendents, the temple is a fine example of his work, and a chance to experience another of Bhutan’s historic buildings.
