Shivapuri National Park
A mix of scenery and culture, Shivapuri National park is a wonderful excursion from the city. Your guide will lead you through small villages and little-visited monasteries, all on the doorstep of Kathmandu.
Thirty minutes’ drive from Kathmandu, you will be driven to the village of Budanilkantha, where your guide will assist you entering the Shivapuri National Park.
Here you will join trails along pine and cherry forests and along rugged roads where after an hour and a half you will arrive at Nangi Gompa, home to a small nunnery and monastery.
From here, the trail winds steeply uphill through rhododendrum and bamboo forests, snaking through the Shivapuri wildlife and watershed area. After around three hours, you will find yourself close to the summit of Shivapuri (2,563) and enjoy fine views on a clear day toward the snowy Himalayan peaks.
A two-hour walk back down to Budanilkantha leads you back to your driver, who will take you back to your hotel.
