A horse riding safari in the Masai Mara offers guests a totally different way to encounter wildlife, allowing you to get closer than ever before making for a truly memorable experience.
Riding through private conservancies, allows you to get away from the crowds and really get off the beaten track as you cross the open plains, cross flowing rivers and ravines, coming close and personal with wildlife in a true wilderness environment. Expect to encounter plenty of plains game including grazing zebra, giraffe, elephant and plenty of gazelle and impala.
Different rides are offered for different abilities. The Plains Ride, a two hour gentle walk and trot across open plains is suitable for those who have some previous experience, able to mount, dismount, walk, trot and able to stop their horses. For the more experienced riders, a faster paced two hour ride is offered with opportunities for fast pace canters taking in open plains, rivers and ravines. All riders need to be riding fit. competent riders and able to control a horse at all paces over uneven terrain.
Before any riders depart, a short assessment is required in the arena to ensure all riders are happy with their horse and equipment. A riding questionnaire is required at booking stage to enable each rider is allocated the most suitable horse based on size, weight, ability and riding style. Riding is not suitable for those under 14 years old or those weighing over 95kg.
