Phinda Rhino Conservation
Join the experts in an exciting day to participate in tracking and notching of a rhino! Witness an experienced veterinary team dart a rhino, notch the sleeping rhino's ear for research and microchip the horn, all for research and security monitoring.
Phinda is committed to conservation efforts to ensure the survival of Africa's rhinos which have been in fast decline in recent years. As a veterinary team searches and then darts from helicopters overhead, you will follow in an open 4x4 game vehicle. Ear notching allows conservationists to correctly identify each rhino on the Reserve and microchips placed in the horn for extra security. All the funds raised go towards the costs of running the rhino conservation and management project.
Please note this experience is subject to the availability of the wildlife veterinarian and helicopter pilot. The total number of groups is dependent on the number of rhinos requiring ear notches.
