Nizwa Friday Market
The Nizwa Friday Market offers a fascinating insight into Omani culture, as farmers from the mountains and desert gather to buy and sell camels, sheep, goats and cattle. There is a live auction close to the entrance to the souk.
The tradition of the Friday Market dates back centuries, and it is usually at its most active from 7am until around 9am. We recommend getting there as early as possible, as the market does tend to wind down pretty quickly, particularly in warmer months.
Please note that this is an authentic experience. Whilst the animals are in a good condition, they are there to be sold, therefore they are often tied to posts and hobbled with string.
