Monkey Forest and Tanah Lot
Visit Mengwi and the beautiful temple complex at Taman Ayun, say hello to the macaque monkeys in Alas Kedaton Monkey Forest, then head south to Bali’s most famous temple complex at Tanah Lot to enjoy the incredible sight of the sun setting on the horizon.
The tour starts with a trip to Mengwi, home to the beautiful temple complex of Taman Ayun, before heading to the Alas Kedaton Monkey Forest populated by nutmeg trees and hundreds of macaque monkeys. After you’ve had a chance to watch and enjoy the monkeys, you travel south to Bali’s most famous temple complex at Tanah Lot. Located on a small island of rock around 100-metres off-shore, the temple is only accessible at low tide and is one of seven sea temples thought to form a protective 'chain' around the island. It is believed that a small spring of water at the temple’s base produces holy water with the power to cleanse away bad spirits. The tour is timed to reach Tanah Lot to enjoy the spectacular sunset the area is famed for.
Please be aware that macaque monkeys can be annoying, so always heed the precautionary advice of your guide.
