Experience the diverse landscapes, traditional arts, crafts and temple culture of the island, including a visit to the 1,000-year old, Besakih Temple, known as the Mother Temple of Bali.
Spend the morning exploring Bali’s tradition of arts and crafts with a visit to three villages. First stop is Tohpati, where the batik fabrics that Bali is famous for are still printed by hand. In the village of Mas, you will learn about the island’s intricate wood-carving industry, while you can watch both traditional and modern jewellery-making at Celuk. Following this, you travel north of Ubud, to Tirta Empul Temple, famous for its holy waters. A buffet lunch is served in the village of Kintamani, where you can enjoy stunning views of Mount Batur.
The highlight of the afternoon is the visit to the 1,000-year old Hindu Besakih Temple, known as the Mother Temple of Bali, on the volcanic slopes of Mount Agung, the island’s largest mountain. Besakih is Bali’s largest house of worship comprising 23 individual but related temples, attracting pilgrims from far and wide who come to pay their respects.
