Kintamani and Monkey Forest Tour
Experience a day watching a traditional Barong dance, learning about Balinese arts and crafts, visiting amazing rock-carvings at Gunung Kawi Temple and Goa Gajah and watching the macaque monkeys in Ubud Monkey Forest.
The morning starts with a fascinating performance of traditional Barong dance, which plays out the battle between good and evil, before continuing the arts theme with a visit to three artisan villages near Ubud. In Mas you will see intricate wood-carving, while Celuk is a jewellery-crafting centre and in Tohpati you can see the traditional method for making the batik fabric that is synonymous with Bali. From here you will travel to the temple complex of Gunung Kawi to see the rock-carved shrines, before stopping for a buffet lunch in the village of Kintamani, with views over Mount Batur. After lunch, your next destination is the 9th century Elephant Cave, Goa Gajah in Bedulu, which was once a sanctuary for Buddhist monks and is noted for its incredible rock carvings. The final stop is Ubud Monkey Forest, for some monkey-watching fun.
Please be aware that macaque monkeys can, at times, be annoying, so always heed the precautionary advice of your guide.
