Kayaking the Canals of the Northern Shores
Move away from the main waters of the lake and discover a maze of small canals. Paddle by stilted houses and floating gardens as you visit the village of Kyay Sar Gone and the Lin Kin Monastery, interacting with friendly locals along the way.
Meet at the local monastery of Kyay Sar Gone to hop in your kayak for a short paddle around the tranquil waters of Kyay Sar Gone’s elaborate canal system lined with stilted buildings, some of them being used as residences and some being used for shops, offices and schools. Be stunned by the way boats replace cars and canals replace roads.
Paddle up-close to the iconic gardens to really appreciate them and their beauty with crops such as chillies, tomatoes and beans growing. The innovative way of farming where floating bunches of water hyacinth and mud are anchored by bamboo poles is sure to amaze you. Continue onto the main part of the lake and through Lin Kin village with a stop for some tea and snacks along the way. Reach the Lin Kin monastery where your cultural kayaking adventure will come to an end as you are transferred back to your hotel or on to the airport.
