Kanta Elephant Sanctuary Day Visit
Kanta Elephant Sanctuary is an ethical and sustainable eco-tourism project which offers a retirement home for elephants. Throughout the day you'll gain an insight into the elephants' lives whilst being able to spend time with them.
The day starts early with a pick up from your hotel around 8.30am and transferred to Kanta Elephant Sanctuary which is about one hour outside of the city of Chiang Mai. On arrival at the Sanctuary you'll be given traditional clothing to change into before helping the preparation of the fruits to feed the elephants. You'll then have the chance to spend time safely interacting with the elephants, learning about the elephants' lives and previous work in entertainment or logging industry. Kanta Elephant Sanctuary provides a retirement home for all elephants and uses its platform to raise awareness and educate people in Thailand and around the world on elephant care.
Around midday you'll enjoy a delicious Pad Thai lunch at the sanctuary and then help to prepare more food for the elephants again all the while learning more about their background, health care and common behaviour of these beautiful creatures. Through the afternoon you'll be able to help bathe the elephants and enjoy spending time with these gentle giants before departing late afternoon for Chiang Mai.
Please note that the elephant experience is offered in small groups and is a join in tour. For the day we suggest that you bring with you a towel, swimsuit, camera, insect repellent and sunscreen.
