Kanazawa 21st Century Museum
Unique in its architecture and exhibits, Kanazawa’s 21st Century Museum offers a dramatic change to traditional city highlights. With temporary and permanent displays from Japanese and international artists it is one of Japan’s most popular museums.
Today you will be met at your hotel by your guide and taken to the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art using the excellent public transport network. The museum opened in 2004 to showcase Japan’s best contemporary artists and also house permanent exhibits from artists across the world. The architecture of the museum alone is worth exploring, with the building completely circular to encourage visitors to approach the art inside from any possible direction.
Your guide will help you see the museums highlights such as Leandro Erlich’s Swimming Pool and James Turrell’s Blue Planet, as well as any temporary installations that change regularly throughout the year.
After viewing the museum, your guide will give you directions back to your hotel or perhaps the nearby Kenrokuen Gardens to carry on your day independently.
