Explore the beautiful Burmese countryside around the hill station of Kalaw on a light day trek into the Shan hills, visiting a number of small ethnic communities.
Begin the day with a visit to Kalaw's morning market, a fascinating mix of people and goods that draws a number of hill tribes from the surrounding villages to buy and sell goods.
Then, embark on a light trek into Kalaw's surrounding hills. It should take approximately three to five hours, as you travel past farms and through small villages inhabited by hill tribes including the Danu, Palaun, Pa-Oh and Shan. Enjoy lunch in a local village, before returning to Kalaw mid-afternoon.
