Jaipur City Tour
Explore Jaipur, visiting the historic City Palace, the Jantar Mantar and the Hawa Mahal. The tour ends with a visit to the bazaars of the old city – a taste of vibrant and authentic Rajasthan.
Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, is steeped in history and culture which comes alive when exploring its magnificent forts and palaces. Your tour of the ‘pink city’ includes the City Palace, Jantar Mantar (a medieval observatory) and a drive past Hawa Mahal (the Palace of Winds). The City Palace, located in the heart of the city is a complex with courtyards, balconies, arched entrances and gardens in a combination of Rajput and Mughal architecture. The museum here displays paintings, garments and weapons dating back to the 15th century. The Jantar Mantur, built in 1728, is the largest and best preserved observatory in India. The Hawa Mahal, built in 1799, is a five storey pink building. You can also visit the milk market where large quantities of milk is procured from individual sellers and then resold to wholesale buyers. Enjoy the interesting ways by which the buyers judge the purity of milk and negotiate the prices. The day ends with a walking tour of Jaipur to visit the bazaars in the old city, set in a labyrinth of colourful alleyways.
