Hoa Lu & Trang An
Spend the day exploring the picturesque Ninh Binh province, including a cycling tour around the ancient capital of Hoa Lu and the beautiful surrounding countryside, and taking a boat trip through the breathtaking Trang An Valley.
Visit the temples dedicated to Emperor Dinh Tien Hoang of the Dinh Dynasty (968 - 80), and Emperor Le Dai Hanh of the Le Dynasty (980 - 1009). The ancient Hoa Lu Citadel once covered an area of three square kilometres. If time permits after visiting Hoa Lu, take a half-hour walk up one of the surrounding limestone karst hills, the climb is tough but you are rewarded with spectacular views at the top. In the late morning depart for Tam Coc Town for a Vietnamese lunch, along the way stop where you wish to take photographs of local villages and the stunning landscape.
After lunch board your private sampan for a boat trip through the Trang An Valley which is off the tourist trail. Pass through a cave formations and fields of lotus (in the Summer) and reach a quaint pagoda before returning on the same route.
If desired, your guide will assist you with your bicycle in preparation for your cycle tour of Hoa Lu. The bicycle tour is a round trip through spectacular scenery of rice fields, karsts formations and quaint rural villages. Pass glowing lime kilns fed by the mining of the lime-stone mountains.
