Hike from Nagarkot to Changunarayan
Today you will join your guide for a classic trek around the Kathmandu Valley, taking in scenery and culture on one of the most popular walking trails on an easy day trip from Kathmandu.
You will be met this morning in Kathamandu by your guide and make your way on an hours’ drive to the pretty town of Nagarkot. At over 2,000m, the town is one of the most scenic in the Kathmandu Valley and was once the summer retreat of the Nepalese Royal Family.
This beauty makes it still popular today, with views of the Himalayas including Mt Everest on clear days making it often the first sight visitors to Nepal have with the mountains.
From here you will follow a panoramic trail around the valley which heads downhill through farming communities and rural homes to the village of Telkot, famous for its seasonal mustard fields and the art of drying wheat in gardens and on flat roofs.
The trail ends after around four hours at the Changu Narayan Temple, Nepal’s oldest, with fine views over the ancient city of Bhaktapur. From here, your guide will walk you back to your vehicle where you will make your way back to your hotel.
