Harajuku Backstreet Gourmet Tour
Just a few steps from one of Tokyo’s centres for alternative trends and pop culture sits one of it’s most stylish and up-and-coming areas. Your guide will introduce you to the boutique bars and eateries of Tokyo’s young elite on this evening tour.
This evening your guide will meet you at your hotel and take you to Harajuku using the city’s public transport network. The main street here has become the centre of Tokyo’s alternative youth movement, where the latest styles and trends are always on show.
Just away from the teenagers and cat cafes though, you will find one of Tokyo’s most chic areas tucked around Harajuku’s back streets, brimming with stylish cafes and hip boutiques. Your first stop will be to sample some handmade beer and see first-hand why this is one of the fastest growing small industries in Japan. Your drink will be followed by a visit to an Okonomiyaki restaurant, where savoury pancakes will be grilled to your liking right at your table.
Your guide will then take you to Omotesando Hills, where contemporary architecture is combined with sake tasting and snacks. The Hasegawa sake shop here is one of the most famous in the city and its sake is prized all over Japan, making it a great place to grab a few bottles to commemorate your visit. To complete the tour, your guide will take you to Commune 246, one of the trendiest spots in Tokyo and home to a number of small eateries where you can enjoy mingling with the locals and enjoy the rest of the evening.
